Design Your Own Putter: Inside the Lajosi Custom Milling Process

Every Lajosi putter is built to order in Melbourne and shipped all over the world. Here's a look inside our custom design process — from choosing your putter head and...

When you hold a Lajosi putter, you're holding something that didn't exist before you imagined it. Every putter we craft in Melbourne is a collaboration — between Kari on our Machine, our materials, and most importantly, you.

Here's a look inside the Lajosi design process, from the first conversation to the final finish.

Step 1: Choose Your Putter Style

It all starts with the head. Our lineup includes blade-style putters like the DD201 and Sensor, mid-mallets like the LP421, and LP7, and full mallets like the Maven, Tala, Everlyn and ZNT Mallet. Each design has been engineered with a specific stroke type and alignment preference in mind.

Not sure which head suits your game? We'll talk through your stroke arc, your eye for alignment, and how you like to set up at address. The right head shape can transform your confidence on the greens.

Step 2: Select Your Shaft

The shaft is the engine of your putter. We offer a range of lengths and hosel configurations — from traditional straight hosels to plumber's neck and flow neck options — each influencing how the putter hangs at address and how it moves through the stroke.

Custom length fitting is part of the process. Whether you putt with a conventional grip, armlock, or broomstick style, we'll dial in the right shaft length for your setup.

Step 3: Pick Your Grip

Grip selection is deeply personal. A thicker grip can quiet an overactive wrist; a thinner grip can restore feel and feedback. We stock a curated range of grips from leading brands, and we'll help you find the one that complements your stroke and feels right in your hands.

Grip colour and texture also play into the overall aesthetic of your putter — and with a Lajosi, the look matters just as much as the performance.

Step 4: Pick Your Headcover

A Lajosi putter deserves a headcover worthy of it. Our headcovers are crafted to match the premium feel of the putter itself. It's the finishing touch that makes your putter unmistakably yours.

Step 5: The Milling

Once your specifications are locked in, the real magic begins. Our putters are CNC milled from premium materials right here in Melbourne, Australia. The milling process creates the precise face texture and geometry that defines Lajosi's feel — that soft, responsive feedback at impact that blade and mallet players alike describe as unlike anything else they've used.

Every putter is inspected by hand before it leaves our workshop. We're not running a production line — we're building instruments.

Why Custom Matters

Off-the-rack putters are built for an average golfer. But there's no such thing as an average golfer. Your height, your posture, your stroke, your eye — they're all unique. A custom milled putter from Lajosi is built around you, which means it's built to perform for you.

Golfers who've made the switch to a custom Lajosi consistently tell us the same thing: they wish they'd done it sooner.
